Terms of service
These terms apply to orders placed through this site. They are written to be read, not to be survived, and they describe what the shop actually does.
Who you are buying from
Paperbark Books, an independent bookshop trading online in Australia.
We are not registered for GST. No GST is charged on anything you buy here, and the documents we issue are invoices rather than tax invoices.
The email address for everything is orders@paperbark-books.com. Our postal address is printed on every invoice we issue.
Prices
All prices are in Australian dollars.
Prices can change without notice, but the price you are charged is the price shown when you placed your order. If a price on the site is obviously wrong — a decimal point in the wrong place — we will tell you before charging anything, and you can confirm at the corrected price or cancel.
Orders
Placing an order is an offer to buy. It is not a completed sale, and it costs you nothing.
We confirm your order by email once we have checked availability and worked out shipping. That email is the point at which there is an agreement between us. If we cannot supply something, we will tell you, and you will not be charged for it.
Stock and availability
We list books we hold and books we can order in. Occasionally a title becomes unavailable after you order it — a supplier's stock figure is not always current.
If that happens we will contact you and offer an alternative, the rest of the order without it, or a full refund. The choice is yours.
Payment
Payment is due after we have quoted shipping and you have agreed to the total. Payment details are on the invoice we email you.
Payments are recorded by hand, by a person, after the money arrives. No part of this site takes a payment automatically, and the site never stores card details because it never sees them.
Orders are dispatched once payment has cleared.
Delivery
See shipping and delivery. In short: Australia only, quoted per order, confirmed before anything is payable, dispatched within two working days of payment.
Returns
See returns and cancellations. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by anything on this site.
Your information
See our privacy policy for what we collect and why. We collect what an order needs and little else, and we do not sell it to anybody.
If something goes wrong
Write to us first. Almost everything is fixable by a person reading the email, and we would rather hear from you than have you take a problem elsewhere.
