Returns and cancellations

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they are not of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing on this page reduces those rights. Where this page is more generous than the law, the more generous term applies.

Cancelling an order

You can cancel any order that has not yet been dispatched, for any reason and without explaining yourself. Email us with your order reference.

If you have already paid, we refund you in full to the method you paid with. If you have not, nothing is owed.

Once an order has been dispatched it cannot be cancelled, but it can be returned — see below.

Change of mind

We accept change-of-mind returns for 30 days from the day your order arrives.

A book that comes back marked, creased, or read is one we cannot sell again, so we may refuse a change-of-mind return or refund part of the price. We will tell you which, and why, before doing either.

Damaged, faulty, or not what you ordered

If a book arrives damaged, is not the book you ordered, or is not of acceptable quality, tell us within 30 days and we will put it right at our cost — a replacement or a full refund, whichever you prefer, including the postage both ways.

A photograph of the problem helps and usually saves you sending the book back at all.

How to return something

Email orders@paperbark-books.com with your order reference and what is wrong, before sending anything back. We will reply with the return address.

Please do not send a book back unannounced. Parcels without a reference are difficult to match to an order, and a refund we cannot connect to a purchase is a refund we cannot make.
